Author Biography

Peter Geller
Peter Geller received his MA in History from the University of Winnipeg in 1990, having completed a thesis on Hudson's Bay Company public relations and images of the fur trade, 1920-1945. He is currently a doctoral student in the History Department at Carleton University. His interests lie in the area of Canadian cultural history, with a focus on visual representation. He is now researching the social role of photography (incorporating both still images and moving pictures), and its relationship to conceptions of the Canadian "North" in the first half of the twentieth century.
